After several years of quietude, our friend Ellul of Toledo, Ohio returns with a full album of instrumental guitar landscapes. His music truly functions like painting, or a film: each moment of sound works to communicate, to convey a mood, to carry weight that you will hold. These recordings are open and honest: they are lo-fi, scratchy, with hiccups and missed steps. But these moments are just as important to Ellul as his finest chord-heavy melodies and meandering solos. His is a holistic approach to appreciating creativity – being willing to admit faults and still enjoying the process of playing, tinkering, making meaning from experimentation. Ellul wants to share his emotional experiments with you, and that includes his flaws so you have space to react to the full experience of his writing process.
